Advantages of electric submersible pumps


1) The main advantage of this oil recovery method is the large displacement liquid recovery. However, currently, electric submersible pumps are often used in oil wells with relatively low liquid production.

2) This type of pump can transfer water from the upper water layer in the oil well to the lower water injection layer.

3) Simple operation, convenient management, and application in urban areas can help beautify the environment and reduce noise.

4) It can be well applied to inclined wells, horizontal wells, and offshore oil recovery.

5) Easy to handle corrosion and wax formation.

6) It is easy to install downhole pressure and temperature testing devices, and transmit the testing signal to the ground through cables for measurement and reading.

7) To adapt to the decline or change in oil well production, variable frequency devices can be used to adjust the power frequency, but the investment cost is relatively high.

8) The repair free period is relatively long, and the production efficiency of oil wells is relatively high.

Disadvantages of electric submersible pumps




1) The depth of the electric submersible pump is limited by the rated power of the motor, and the size of the casing and the depth of the electric submersible pump under high temperature at the bottom of the well are limited. Large high-power equipment does not have enough annular sudden space to cool the motor, which can shorten the service life of the motor.


2) Due to the high cost of multi-level high-power submersible power, the initial investment is relatively high, especially the cost of cables. If corrosion or high temperature resistance is required, the cost will be higher.


3) Due to the installation of the entire device underground, once a malfunction occurs, it is necessary to remove all the pipe strings for repair, resulting in increased operating costs and prolonged production downtime.


4) High temperatures underground can easily cause cable failures, and high temperatures, corrosion, and wear may cause motor damage. A high gas oil ratio will reduce lifting faults and cause pump failure due to air lock.


5) The power source is only suitable for using a power source.
